Ep. 15 Playa Soup  . . . 

A savory root vegetable soup with dried black mushrooms, green beans, artisinal bacon bites and a generously gifted coliflor, all lightly dusted with authentic playa salt.

Burning Man Soup


1/4 cup olive oil
2 onions chopped
2 potatoes cubed or cut however you like
2 cans french cut green beans including juice
8 oz dried black or other exotic mushrooms
2 8 oz cans tomatillo salsa
2 quarts water (depending on how brothy you’d like your soup)

3 cubes dried vegetable stock (to start)
8 oz fresh dried bacon bits
1 tablespoon ground pepper

playa dust or Himalayan salt


In one large pot, heat olive oil, potatoes, and onions. Stir while sautéing until vegetables are lightly browned. Add bacon, bullion and mushroom. Mix Well, then add water and stir. Cook over medium high heat to bring to a boil. Now add the cauliflower and cook until tender. Stir in green beans along with their juices and the sals. Serve in cans for effect or in camping cups or just mugs. Salt to taste.
